Today is a very special day. It is Monday August 10th, 2015, which is National S’mores Day. After some experimenting in my kitchen, I’ve come up with a recipe for a not-so-average s’more’s sandwich. I wish I had some kind of fun anecdote to tell in addition to providing this recipe, but absolutely nothing exciting happened to me during the development and execution phases of this s’mores creation. I almost feel like I should make something up right now, just to keep you engaged in this post. Or better yet, something to keep me engaged because I must have stopped writing to look at something else about a dozen times at this point, and I’m only a paragraph in (welcome to the world of ADHD).
Now that we’ve established that making sense is the least of my priorities, I’d like to share my recipe.
S’mores French Toast Recipe
Ingredients:
– 2 slices of bread
– 2 eggs
– 1 Tbsp milk
– 1/3 cup mini marshmallows
– 1/4 cup chocolate chips
– 4 graham crackers
– 1/4 tsp vanilla
Directions:
– scramble eggs and add milk and vanilla.
– crush graham crackers into “sand-like” pieces on a flat plate.
– coat both slices of bread with egg mixture and then dip the bread into the graham crackers. Fill in any uncovered spots with additional graham cracker pieces if necessary.
– on medium-low heat, place both pieces of bread in a pan. Cook bread on one side for about two minutes and then flip both pieces over. (This will ensure that the inner part of the French toast sandwich is cooked and there isn’t a risk of consuming raw eggs).
– layer the mini marshmallows on top of one piece of bread. Then, later the chocolate chips on top of the other piece.
– let cook until marshmallows and chocolate chips begin to melt. You may need to raise the heat on the stove, but make sure to monitor it, as you don’t want the bread to burn.
– once the melting begins, flip the piece of bread with the marshmallows over on top of the chocolate chips to make a sandwich.
– continue to cook the sandwich so that the marshmallows and chocolate chips melt further. When the bottom piece of bread is golden brown, flip the sandwich and cook a bit longer on the opposite side.
– the French toast is done when all of the egg is completely cooked and the marshmallows and chocolate chips have significantly melted. When done, remove from heat, place on place, and cut the sandwich in half on a diagonal.
Looks and sounds AMAZING!!!
