• What To Order Next

11417291_1469386910042704_767403132_nSometimes I get very flustered when I am given too many options.  At the same time, I hate it when I don’t have enough options.  It’s really a difficult situation to be in.  More often than not, I can eliminate some choices based on my food allergies and my pre-determined dislike for certain things.  Once those are off the table, the hard work begins.  Do you know what is even harder than making a choice between a few things you like?  Having the option to customize something!  Now you’ve just opened Pandora’s Box.  Customization should be the Holy Grail for an A.P.E.  And generally, I love it when you have the opportunity to make something your own.  But it can also take me twenty-five years to make a decision.  In order to speed up that process, I’ve learned to just “get it all.”

I found out about an online edible cookie dough retailer called Unbaked pretty recently.  When I went on the website, I saw that the company was based out of Los Angeles, but would ship the cookie dough to anywhere in the U.S.  That made me very happy because I was almost disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to try it.  I clicked through the Shop section and saw a bunch of different concoctions available to order.  Minus the ones I couldn’t eat, they all looked really good.  As I’m scrolling, I noticed the word “custom” jump out at me a few times.  A Picky Eater and something tailor-made?  It was love at first sight.

There are seventeen (I counted) cookie dough flavors that you can choose from in order to customize your order.  Seventeen!  Plus, there are eighteen toppings offered that can be mixed into the dough.  I don’t know what the math of that is, but that makes something like seventeen times eighteen combinations.  Oh, and there’s an option to add a second topping, so I guess you’d multiple that number by seventeen also?  Whatever the number is, it’s not important.  You just need to know that there are a whole bunch of cookie dough-topping choices to make.

My first decision was the settle on the serving size of my order.  I felt that half a pint per flavor would be sufficient as a “starter” for me.  Next, I started to narrow down the cookie dough flavor options based on my tastebuds and allergies.  I must have gone back and forth making changes to my shopping cart a dozen times.  I thought it was best to work backwards by putting everything I liked and wanted in the cart and then removing flavors.  Eventually I ended up with five different cookie-doughs.

    • Red Velvet Cookie Dough with Oreos and Chocolate Chips (custom flavor)

    • Sugar Cookie Dough with Rainbow Sprinkles (custom flavor)

    • Oatmeal Cookie Dough with Raisins and Rainbow Sprinkles (custom flavor)

    • S’mores Lovin: Chocolate Cookie Dough with Toasted Marshmallows and Graham Crackers

    • Chocolate Chip Madness: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with Dark Chocolate Chips, White Chocolate Chips, and Mini Milk Chocolate Chips

Well, a few days later my cookie dough arrived.  It was a happy day.  I loved all five flavors from Unbaked!  Honestly, it’s hard to choose a favorite.  I guess if I had to, it would be the Red Velvet creation because of the color.  It has such a bright and vibrant red!  Though, the S’mores Lovin gave it a run for it’s money with chunks of marshmallows and graham crackers mixed into the dough.  It also wasn’t overly chocolatey or too sweet.  Neither was the Chocolate Chip Madness.  There were tons of chips, which I loved, but they didn’t overpower the actual cookie dough itself.  And for a classic, the sugar cookie dough was spot on.  I don’t know what kind of rainbow sprinkles they use, but they are super bright and pretty!  Even mixed into the Oatmeal cookie dough with the raisins, the rainbow sprinkles still stand out.

I really did love them all.  The next issue to resolve is what to order next…
