Once and a while I convince myself that I should eat something I don’t really want. Has that ever happened to you? I did that earlier today, July 2, 2015 for some reason. I’ll back track a little for you…
I had decided on the destination of today’s food adventure, Baked Tribeca. Among what seems like hundreds of other bakeries, Baked was on my list of places to try. I didn’t really think too much about what I was going to eat once I arrived, figuring I’d see something yummy and go from there.
When I walked into Baked I was blown away by the delicious looking treats lined up along the counter. There were so many options to choose from. On the other side of the glass, staring back at me, were Whoopie Pies, Cupcakes, Cookies, Cinnamon Buns, and more. As usual, I became overwhelmed by all of the sugary goodness and didn’t know what to get!
I saw a pile of orange papers that looked like menus, so I took one to see if reading might help narrow down the choices. This ended making things a bit more difficult because the menu had all kinds of other food not on display in the showcase. There were different soup, sandwich, and salad offerings for lunch and they even had a breakfast menu. For some reason, my weird brain told me that it was more appropriate to order “lunch” food than baked goods and that’s what I did.
I ordered the Peggy Sue sandwich for lunch which is Baguette bread filled with turkey, caramelized pears, Brie cheese, arugula, and an herb-mayo. I have to tell you, it was really really really good! I’m sure if I actually wanted to eat it I would have liked the sandwich even more. There were a few problems though, with myself, not with the food. Number one, I don’t like to eat sandwiches, something I’ve written about in my Truthful Tuesday posts. Number two, I don’t like arugula so I picked all of the pieces off. Number three, I wanted to eat something sweet like a cookie but, ended up ordering a savory sandwich. Number four, now this sandwich is sitting in front of me and I don’t know what to do with it because I don’t want to eat it but, I wasn’t going home afterwards to put it in the fridge. I certainly wasn’t going to waste the damn thing.
Taking giant bites in order to attempt to finish the sandwich as fast as possible, I scarfed about half of it down before giving up. Obviously, I ate the pickle that it came with and I drank my lemonade. When I was done eating this super yummy and super unnecessary sandwich, I headed back over to the front counter to look at sweet treats again. While I was surveying the premises, someone came out of the kitchen with a tray of fresh black and white cookies. I was very excited about this and got back on the line to get more food. For my second order of the day, I decided to get some of the black and white cookies as well as the giant homemade marshmallows that were in large glass display jars.
Upon arriving home, I was thinking about how I could eat the cookies and marshmallows together. I guess the sandwich I didn’t want earlier had an impact because it gave me the idea of making s’mores out of it. I ended up torching one of the giant marshmallows in between two black and white cookies! It was very gooey and fantastic tasting. Baked makes amazing black and white cookies, so the next time you’re in Tribeca, I’d make a stop over there. I think the next time I go I’m going to suggest they add my cookie sandwich to the lunch menu. Now that’s a sandwich I’d eat every day!
LOOKS AMAZING!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
